The Industry, Energy, Labour and Mining Department, Govt. of Maharashtra on October 01, 2025, issued the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025, further to amend the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2017.
The following has been amended namely: -
• In section 1 (3), in clause (a) and (b), and in section 6 (1), the word "ten" shall be substituted with the word "twenty".
• In section 12, the word "nine" shall be substituted with the word "ten", and the word "five" shall be substituted with "Six".
• Section 14 shall be substituted with "14. The spread-over of a worker in the establishment shall not exceed twelve hours in any day".
• In Section 15, the words "one hundred and twenty-five hours" shall be substituted with the words "one hundred and forty-four hours".
